Bird Cage does not require you to create an account with your name, email, or phone number. When you first open the App, it creates an anonymous identifier stored on your device so features like your Watchlist work correctly. This identifier is not linked to your real identity.
The App does not currently request or use your device's location. (A future update will re-add a map feature that uses your location only to center the map near you, with your permission — this policy will be updated when that happens.)
We store the field offices you choose to follow in your Watchlist, associated with your anonymous device identifier, so we can show you relevant alerts. We do not store browsing history beyond what's needed for the App to function.
If you choose to follow a field office in your Watchlist, the App asks permission to send you push notifications and stores a device push token (provided by Apple/Google and Expo, not tied to your real identity) so we can alert you when fugitives in that region change. You can turn this off any time in your device's notification settings.
Wanted-persons information shown in the App comes from the FBI's public Wanted API (api.fbi.gov). We don't control that data or how the FBI handles it — see fbi.gov for their own privacy practices.
The App does not currently use advertising identifiers or third-party analytics/tracking services.
App data is stored using Supabase, a backend database provider, in accordance with their own security practices.
We do not sell your data. We do not share it with third parties for advertising purposes.
The App is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
As we add features (real accounts, subscriptions, push notifications, the sex offender registry map), this policy will be updated to describe any new data practices.
